British Gas has launched new services aimed at reducing household emissions and cutting energy bills.

The energy supplier is offering solutions in solar, home energy efficiency, insulation and electric vehicles.

The announcement follows research conducted by British Gas, which shows that 78% of people are willing to take action in their homes to tackle climate change.

Among homeowners, nearly half (48%) stated that they were open to upgrading their insulation in the next two years, while 42% expressed a willingness to install solar panels.

British Gas has established a new business unit focused on helping customers become more energy efficient as part of their journey towards net zero emissions.

The company intends to train and employ 3,500 engineers with green skills to install and maintain electric vehicle charging points, insulation, solar panels, hydrogen-ready boilers and heat pumps.

Andrew Middleton, Managing Director of Net Zero at British Gas said: “We are on a mission to help consumers lower their household energy bills, whilst at the same time reducing their carbon emissions.

“We recognise that many households are being cautious with their spending currently but want to make sure the right products are there for those who can make these changes – and we want to do all we can to make greener home solutions more affordable and accessible so that no one is left behind.”
